In the last couple of years it has become increasingly hard for me to put things on my body, or in my body for that matter, that are ridden with gross chemicals. Call me a hippy if you like but for me, healthy > wrinkle-free. I just might be eating my words when my 60 year- old wrinkly self is mortgaging her second home in order to pay for my mean botox habit, but for now that's my story and I am sticking to it. I have convinced myself that by the time I am that age 60 is going to be the new 30 and there will be fantastic clean and green procedures to make me look that way. Indulge me.
Anyhow, making the transformation into the clean(er) skincare world can be scary. Will my products still allow me to smell like a European hooker? Do these "green" counterparts do anything? And most importantly, is there any clean beauty products that look as good on my shelf as my tub of La Mer? I can tell you from experience the answers are yes, yes and yes. Err actually no to the first, as I am not sure that smelling like a hooker is an enjoyable side-effect of artificially fragrances products. Call me crazy. Without further ado, here are my top picks for the best of the best green(er) and clean(er) skincare, all tried and tested by moi.
1. Evanhealy Rose Cleansing Milk: Super gentle cleanser that smells subtly of roses. 2. Restorsea Reviving Cleanser: Great all-around cleanser for any skin type or season. 3. Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser: Love this every other day in the summer because it does a nice job of cleansing and exfoliating.
1. Creme Ancienne: Tried it this winter to kill my La Mer habit and so far so good. Makes my skin tighter and softer. 2. Restorsea Day Cream: Got this as a party favor and fell in love. Not to heavy for every day use but very moisturizing. 3. In Fiore: More of a balm and made by a "master alchemist" this stuff smells great and gets rid of dryness.
1. Living Libations, Best Skin Ever: By far and away the most granola company I know about, but man does their oil make my skin look top notch. 2. Butter Elixir: The least expensive option out of the above, but a really great product that smells oh so fresh. 3. Ila Glowing Radiance: As advertised.
. May Lindstrom Honey Mud: I leave this on as a mask and love it. Both moisturizing and detoxifying. Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: Freshens up the dullest skin! 3. The Beauty Chef's Inner Beauty Powder: Mega super food. It's what's on the inside that counts. 4. de Mamiel: Such a chic brand and this lip balm is yummy rose scented. 5. Resurface by Shani Darden: This shouldn't be last because it's awesome!!! My sister bought this for me for christmas and it is such a pure retinol product. All the other ones irritate my skin. BONUS- Jessica Alba, Rosie HW and Kate Hudson swear by this lady. Hello! Must be brilliant.
