Dying, dying, dying to get out of town. Two out of three of my children are home sick from school and it is single digits outside. For me that = going totally bonkers. Fire up the PJ and call the stylist to pack yo' bags. Any of these spots will do.
Belmond Villa San Michele, Florence- Hello stunning hotel only 15 minutes outside of Florence! I am absolutely dying to go to Italy and this spot seems like the exact vibe I'm looking for, or really anyone would be looking for. Gorgeous gardens, city views, and a facade said to be carved by Michaelangelo. This 15th century monastery has amazing food and offers cooking classes to boot, even the kiddos an join. You can look for me at that pool overlooking the city.
San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Barbara- This getaway screams relaxation to me. The property backs up into the San Ynez mountains and is crawling with lavender and olive trees. Every room is its own cottage, complete with it's own patio, fire place, and many with personal jacuzzis. The food sounds fantastic and if you really want to throw some cash away, you can order their $130 margarita. Not bringing my children here, my husband will be lucky to make the cut.
Amangani Resort, Jackson Hole: Holy smokes. While skiing is only my thing for like, a day, I would ski for weeks here. The resort is situated at the base of Teton Mountains making for truly breathtaking views. What's more, the entire resort has floor to ceiling windows, so you can't even forget for a second that you are in an absolute wonderland. Love that it is also VERY family friendly and has such a clean, modern, ski lodge vibe.
Four Seasons Resort, Costa Rica: This spot has shown up on my insta feed a few times over winter break and it just looks perfect. I feel like everyone is doing Costa Rica these days. Maybe that's because it's awesome. I envision myself sitting at the pool, watching my kids swim while enjoying the water from a freshly cracked coconut. Perhaps I'll be motivated to do some cool activity like zip lining, but maybe not. Stand-up paddle boarding sounds thrilling enough for this midwesterner. Already perusing Mara Hoffman for wardrobe options.
